Getting Started
What exactly is StudyQs? +
StudyQs is a specification-led revision system. Instead of throwing a massive, generic question bank at you, we connect the official specification directly to concise study notes, fast recall practice, and extended exam questions. It selects useful revision based on your exact course so you don't have to organize everything yourself.
How do I choose my course? +
When you sign up, you'll select your exact qualification, subject, exam board, course type (e.g., Combined vs Separate Science), and tier. This exact selection determines every note and question you see, ensuring you study only what you actually need for your exam.
Content & Syllabus
Why does StudyQs sometimes have less information than my textbook? +
Textbooks often provide background stories, enrichment, and extra examples "just in case". While interesting, these can make the course look huge and confusing. StudyQs focuses purely on what your official specification states you must recall and apply. We separate required knowledge from information that an exam paper would provide for you in a question.
Does "no unnecessary content" mean the questions are easy? +
Not at all. The challenge in GCSEs doesn't come from memorizing obscure trivia; it comes from precise recall, linking ideas, and unfamiliar application. Our Deep Dive questions will rigorously test your ability to explain, evaluate, and use exact exam wording.
Practice & Marking
What are the different practice modes? +
- Self-Check: Independent recall. Reveal the concise mark points and honestly rate your memory (Again, Unsure, Knew It).
- Speed Practice: Fast, multiple-choice or short-answer questions to build fluency and correct misconceptions instantly.
- Deep Dive: Typed, extended exam-style responses (4-6 marks) where you practice your exact phrasing.
How are Deep Dive questions marked? Is it a real examiner? +
It's not an official examiner. Your typed answers are compared against stored mark-scheme points using AI-assisted feedback. The system identifies which points you included, which were missing, and any inaccuracies, helping you understand exactly what to add next time.
Progress without the Panic
Why can't I see hundreds of overdue questions? +
StudyQs intentionally avoids displaying overwhelming backlogs. We want to support consistent revision, not create guilt. Based on spaced-repetition principles, we present a useful, manageable daily session based on what you can do now.
What happens if I miss several days of revision? +
Your progress is saved exactly where you left off. When you log back in, StudyQs simply chooses a manageable next session. You are not expected to clear every "missed" question immediately, and you won't be punished with red warning bars.
What is XP? +
XP is a simple measure of completed practice. It gives you a manageable daily target to hit. It shows the effort and activity you've completed, rather than predicting an exact exam grade.
